In a series of terrorist attacks in Hangu district on Friday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair and two other policemen were martyred, while another sustained injuries. The injured officer was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
According to police officials, the incident occurred when terrorists targeted the Ghulamena check-post with an explosion. Upon receiving reports of the attack, SP Operations Asad Zubair, accompanied by a heavy police contingent, rushed towards the site to assess the situation. However, their vehicle was struck by a powerful bomb blast on the way, resulting in the martyrdom of the SP and two other officers on the spot.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, and a large-scale search operation has been launched to track down the perpetrators. The attack marks another grim reminder of the persistent threat of militancy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where police and security personnel continue to render supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.
