South Waziristan & Dera Ismail Khan, – In a significant show of solidarity, the people of South Waziristan Lower and Dera Ismail Khan have pledged their support to security forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
A key jirga (tribal council) was held in Wana, where Commandant South Waziristan Scouts and elders from the Suleiman Khel tribe met to discuss security issues and the broader situation regarding peace and order in the region. The Commandant lauded the role of the local elders, emphasising that their cooperation was essential for lasting peace. He stressed the importance of strengthening trust and communication between security forces and tribal communities.
The elders reciprocated by acknowledging the sacrifices made by the security forces, asserting that it was the dedication of the troops that had restored peace to the area. They expressed their commitment to continue supporting the forces in the future.
Meanwhile, in Dera Ismail Khan, a significant jirga was also held in the Keri Malang area of Tehsil Kulachi following a recent security operation by the forces. The meeting was attended by local leaders and residents, where military officials clarified that the presence of the forces was solely to ensure the protection of the local population and maintain peace and security.
Local inhabitants expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the security forces and assured authorities that any suspicious activities or terrorist presence would be reported immediately. They also reaffirmed their determination to ensure that no terrorists would find refuge in their region.
This marks a vital step in the ongoing cooperation between the local tribes and the security forces to combat extremism and ensure peace in the area.
