A social activist from North Waziristan has been abducted by militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) following the circulation of a viral video featuring a minor girl playing cricket.

Sources said that Zafran Wazir was taken by TTP militants, who accused him of promoting “obscenity” and “immorality” by uploading a video of minor cricketer Aieena Wazir on social media.

The video, which surfaced a few days earlier, showed the minor girl playing cricket. It gained attention online, drawing mixed reactions from different quarters.

According to local sources, the abducted activist has reportedly been shifted across the border into Afghanistan. There are claims that TTP commanders based there intend to question him over the allegations.

Family members were reportedly informed that he would not be harmed and that the matter would be reviewed under their interpretation of Sharia. It was further conveyed that an Afghan court would hear the case after internal questioning.

No independent confirmation from Afghan authorities has been made public so far.

The incident has triggered concern locally, raising questions about militant influence, parallel systems of enforcement, and cross-border movement of abducted individuals.
