Seven Militants Injured, Hideouts Abandoned as Hangu Operation Intensifies

Security forces pressed ahead with a sweeping counter-terrorism operation in Hangu for the 11th consecutive day, with fresh reports confirming that at least seven militants linked to the banned Kazim Group were injured and several of their hideouts abandoned under military pressure.

The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and local police, entered a decisive phase today in the Naryab, Zargari, Shnawari, and surrounding areas of Hangu district. The offensive forms part of a broader regional campaign launched earlier this month across Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai, Lower Kurram, and Karak, aiming to eliminate militant infrastructure along the restive border zones.

According to security sources, militants fled their positions, leaving behind weapons, communication gear, and logistical caches, as ground forces advanced with support from aerial surveillance and targeted strikes.

This follows yesterday’s confirmation from Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat, who stated that the operation, then in its tenth day, had already eliminated at least 15 terrorists across multiple districts. Officials say the latest engagements in Hangu signal a possible breakdown in militant resistance in the area.

A number of key terrorist hideouts have been cleared, and injured militants are on the run. Intelligence-based sweeps are underway to intercept escapees and dismantle remaining networks.

Authorities have intensified air and ground reconnaissance across known infiltration routes, while local residents have been advised to report any unusual movement. Mobile networks in select areas remain restricted to ensure operational secrecy and prevent militant coordination.

The crackdown comes in response to an uptick in militant activity in the tribal border belt and follows recent attacks on security personnel in the region. Officials affirm that the offensive will continue “until the last hideout is cleared and command structures dismantled.”

Further updates will follow as clearance operations expand deeper into the affected zones.
