Senior Taliban figure Neda Mohammad Nadim was killed in a reported Pakistani airstrike near Spin Boldak as he was mobilizing forces close to the Pak-Afghan border, according to sources.

Nadim was the son-in-law of Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and held several key positions within the Taliban administration.

He previously served as Governor of Kabul province, Police Chief, Governor of Nangarhar province and was also a member of the Taliban’s Military Commission, placing him within the movement’s senior command structure.

Funeral prayers were later held for Nadim, drawing Taliban officials and supporters, as tensions remain high along the frontier.

His reported killing comes amid intensified cross-border hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following large-scale counteroperations launched by Pakistani forces in response to cross-border militant activity.

Security sources in Pakistan have said recent operations targeted militant installations, check posts and logistical facilities across multiple Afghan provinces, describing the actions as enforcement against networks allegedly facilitating attacks inside Pakistan.

The death of a senior Taliban official with close ties to the movement’s top leadership marks a significant development in the current escalation and may carry political and military implications.

Diplomatic contacts have also been activated, with Taliban officials signaling openness to talks while regional actors, including Qatar, engage in efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

The situation along the border remains fluid, with heightened security readiness on both sides.
