Senate Sends Strong Message to India with Unanimous Resolution Against Aggression

The Senate, under the chairmanship of Yousaf Raza Gillani, unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday condemning the recent act of Indian aggression. The resolution was moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during the session of the Upper House.

The resolution firmly rejected attempts to link Pakistan to the Pahalgam incident, describing the Indian government’s narrative as a malicious and politically motivated campaign. It called for India to be held accountable for its role in supporting terrorism in other countries, including Pakistan. The resolution reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended. “The treaty clearly stipulates that it can only be terminated through mutual consent. Water is the lifeline of 240 million Pakistanis,” he said, adding that the National Security Committee has already declared that blocking Pakistan’s water is tantamount to an act of war.

Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Shibli Faraz, also addressed the House and remarked that the resolution sends a unified message to Pakistan’s adversaries. “India has consistently sought opportunities to harm Pakistan and malign its image, but its malicious intent has failed. It has opposed us at every international forum,” he added.
