A senior security official was martyred after being caught in crossfire between two groups exchanging gunfire near Karamatabad, Shorkot area on the Dera-Bannu Road on January 28, 2026. Two other individuals were injured in the incident.

According to sources, at approximately 1410 hours, a black vehicle (BDS 148) carrying Lt. Colonel Imran (Permanent Unit 51 Lancers, G1 OPS 12 Corps, PA No. 44300) came under fire while the two feuding groups were engaged in a shootout. The officer, performing routine duties at the time, was struck and martyred, while two others sustained injuries.

Law enforcement and security teams were immediately dispatched. The area has been cordoned off for investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the exchange of fire.

Officials stressed that while the officer’s death was tragic, it was an unfortunate consequence of existing tensions between local factions, and not a premeditated attack against security forces. Investigations are ongoing.

Law enforcement and security agencies remain on high alert as the situation continues to be closely monitored.
