Security forces successfully repelled a major terrorist assault on the Torghar Post in Central Kurram after a group of militants belonging to the so-called Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK) Darwesh Group attempted to storm the installation. According to initial reports, between ten and fifteen terrorists launched the attack, but the alert and highly vigilant soldiers on duty immediately engaged the assailants and decisively crushed the offensive.
A fierce but brief exchange of fire ensued when the terrorists tried to breach the perimeter of the post. Owing to the swift, professional, and coordinated response of the troops, at least six terrorists were eliminated on the spot, effectively neutralizing the immediate threat and preventing the attackers from inflicting any damage on the post or personnel. The remaining militants fled under pressure, leaving behind evidence that is now being examined by security agencies.
The attempted assault reflects the desperation of FAK-linked militant factions, which have faced sustained setbacks in recent counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tribal districts. Security forces remain fully committed to eliminating the remnants of terrorist networks and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The Pakistan Army reiterated that hostile attempts to target security installations will continue to be met with overwhelming force and that the sacrifices of the troops play a vital role in safeguarding the nation. Search and clearance operations in the surrounding areas have been intensified to track down the fleeing terrorists and dismantle any support structures linked to the attackers.
