Security forces successfully repelled a militant attack on an under-construction police station in central Kurram District, killing two assailants and preventing further damage to the site.
According to official sources, the attack took place on March 22, 2026, the second day of Eid, in the Jabo area, where construction work on the police station was in progress. Laborers were present at the site, while a small contingent of police personnel was deployed for security.
Militants reportedly stormed the site and demanded an immediate halt to construction, leading to a gun battle with security personnel. In the exchange of fire, two militants were killed.
During the attack, the assailants abducted several laborers and police personnel. However, following negotiations facilitated by local elders, the abducted workers were released safely.
Additional security forces were quickly dispatched to the area, bringing the situation under control and securing the area. Officials said the timely response by security personnel prevented a potentially larger incident.
Authorities described the attack as an attempt by militant elements to disrupt state infrastructure and spread fear among civilians.
They reiterated that such actions would be dealt with firmly, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation between local communities and security forces to maintain peace and stability in the region.
