Security forces have launched a high-impact intelligence-based operation (IBO) against Khawarij in the Nurar area of Tehsil Miryan, within the jurisdiction of Miryan Police Station, Bannu district. The joint operation being carried out by Bannu Police, Pakistan Army, and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is progressing successfully and has entered a decisive phase.
Regional Police Chief DIG Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kalachi are on-site, directly supervising the operation to ensure coordination, precision, and real-time decision-making. Multiple security cordons have been established throughout the area, and comprehensive search-and-raid operations are underway at suspected Khawarij hideouts. Due to the swift and effective response of the forces, several militant elements have already fled the area. However, targeted follow-up actions are ongoing to ensure their arrest and complete elimination.
Speaking during the operation, DIG Sajjad Khan stated: “We are fully committed to purging Bannu of the Khawarij. No shelter will be spared, and no lawbreaker will escape justice. Our mission is clear—to restore durable peace through firm, indiscriminate action.” He added that the morale of the security personnel is high, and all officers and soldiers are on full alert, fully equipped to handle any challenge that arises.
The aim of the operation is to eliminate the remaining pockets of Khawarij activity in the area and to ensure that residents can live in a peaceful and secure environment. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, has praised the professional execution of the operation and lauded the courage, readiness, and commitment of the personnel involved.
Authorities have urged residents to cooperate fully with the forces, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity. The people of Bannu have once again demonstrated their support for the state’s efforts to defeat the enemies of peace.
