In 73 intelligence-based operations against banned militant organisations, security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed 158 militants across 15 districts during March this year. According to a report from the security forces, the operations targeted militant strongholds in various regions of the province.
The report revealed that the highest number of militants were killed in North Waziristan, with 40 extremists neutralised. Other notable casualties included 25 militants in Dera Ismail Khan, 20 in Mohmand, and 18 each in Mardan and Bannu. Additionally, 12 militants were killed in South Waziristan, while smaller numbers were reported in Bajaur (6), Laki Marwat (7), Khyber (4), and Tank and Karak (2 each). In Peshawar, Hangu, Swat, and Charsadda, one militant was killed in each district.
The security forces conducted a total of 73 intelligence-based operations during the March, resulting in the killing of 158 militants. In these operations, a large number of weapons and explosives were seized, including 123 sub-machine guns, 53 pistols, 34 rifles, 29 rocket launchers, 22 hand grenades, 9 machine guns, and 186 hand bombs.
In February, similar operations yielded substantial recoveries of weapons, demonstrating the ongoing efforts of security forces to dismantle militant networks in the region.
