North Waziristan: Security forces have foiled a major terrorist plot after seizing a large cache of heavy weapons, missiles and explosives during an intelligence‑based operation near Shashpali village, according to official sources.

The operation, conducted north of Shashpali, targeted militant hideouts where terrorists had reportedly stored arms and ammunition for planned high‑profile attacks on security force posts and a division headquarters. Sources confirmed that the seized stockpile was intended for large‑scale strikes on military installations.

During the search of abandoned houses, concealed caves and nullahs, security personnel recovered a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition, including heavy machine guns, missile launchers and specialised rounds. The recovered items include:

1 heavy machine gun (HMG)

1 RPG‑7

1 107‑millimetre missile launcher

1 14.5‑millimetre gun (without bipod) along with several accessories

1 barrel and 1 belt for the 14.5‑millimetre gun

11 boxes of heavy machine‑gun ammunition (5,325 rounds)

25 RPG‑7 rounds

1,000 rounds for the 12.7‑millimetre gun

48 boxes of 14.5‑millimetre ammunition (2,250 rounds)

18 missiles of 107‑millimetre calibre

Security officials termed the recovery a significant success in preventing imminent attacks and disrupting militant networks in the region. Further investigations are under way to trace the handlers and facilitators linked to the hideouts.
