In a major security breakthrough, Pakistan’s security forces and federal intelligence agencies, in coordination with the Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), thwarted a devastating attack by the outlawed Khawarij group during a high-stakes intelligence-based operation in Askani Mohalla, within the jurisdiction of Mochko Police Station near Hub River Road.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the joint team raided the Khawarij hideout following a credible tip-off about a planned sabotage operation. As the personnel moved in, Khawarij operatives opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle. Two members of the Khawarij network were killed on the spot in the exchange of fire.
Following the shootout, the Bomb Disposal Squad was called in to secure the area. Security personnel recovered a suicide vest, an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and a large quantity of explosive material from the compound. Authorities confirmed that the Khawarij were preparing for a major terror attack, which was preempted through swift and decisive action.
The entire vicinity was immediately cordoned off as search operations were launched to track down any remaining operatives. Additional contingents from the CTD and federal intelligence agencies were deployed to reinforce the area and ensure complete neutralization of the threat.
Officials hailed the successful operation as a critical blow to the Khawarij network in Karachi and reaffirmed the resolve of Pakistan’s security institutions to eradicate all threats to peace and stability through proactive, intelligence-driven actions.
