Security forces on Thursday foiled a terrorist attack on a security post in Datakhel area of North Waziristan, killing one militant and injuring two others, while in a separate intelligence-based operation in Wazgai village, three more terrorists were eliminated, security sources said.

According to the sources, militants belonging to a banned terrorist organization launched an assault on the security forces’ post in Datakhel. The troops stationed at the post responded promptly and effectively, engaging the attackers and forcing them into retreat after a brief exchange of fire.

As a result of the timely response, one terrorist was neutralized on the spot, while two others sustained injuries. The remaining attackers fled the area under the cover of darkness.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the surrounding area and launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation to track down any fleeing militants and eliminate potential threats. The operation remained ongoing at the time of reporting.

Separately, security forces carried out another successful intelligence-based operation in Wazgai village, North Waziristan, eliminating three terrorists belonging to a proscribed organization.

According to security sources, the operation was conducted at Wazgai village, located near the junction of Mir Ali and South Waziristan, after information was received about the movement of a terrorist formation comprising nearly a dozen militants. Security forces targeted the formation during the operation, resulting in the killing of three militants.

Forces subsequently cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation to rule out the presence of any remaining terrorists, sources said.

Security officials reiterated that the forces remain fully alert and committed to thwarting all attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region.
