In a significant blow to militant networks in Pakistan’s tribal belt, security forces on Monday demolished the residence of a most-wanted terrorist, Abu Bakar, during an intelligence-based operation in Saidgai village, North Waziristan.

The operation, conducted on July 28, was led by Major Ahmed Hassan and executed by a 72-member unit from 256 Wing. According to military sources, the mission was precisely planned and flawlessly executed, targeting the high-profile militant without direct confrontation.

Abu Bakar was linked to multiple terrorist attacks, including a suicide bombing in Ghulam Khan on June 28, 2025, and target killing of two peace committee members in Miranshah on April 7, 2025.

The house demolition, aimed at dismantling safe havens for militants, triggered an immediate reaction from some locals. Announcements were reportedly made from a nearby mosque condemning the operation. However, tensions were diffused after a Jirga (tribal council) was held two hours later between civilian administration and local elders, leading to the peaceful completion of the operation.

All security personnel returned safely to their positions following the successful mission. Officials described the operation as a “critical tactical advancement” in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region.
