Five terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in the Pang area within the jurisdiction of Ahmadzai Police Station in Bannu, adding that a search operation was continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.
According to police sources, the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated the presence of militants using hideouts in the area. Security forces swiftly cordoned off the locality and engaged the suspects during the operation, resulting in the killing of five terrorists.
The sources said that the militants were involved in terrorist activities in the region and were using the area as a base to plan and carry out attacks. Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the possession of the killed terrorists, further confirming their involvement in subversive activities.
Following the encounter, security personnel launched a comprehensive search and clearance operation in the surrounding areas to ensure that no accomplices or facilitators remained. Law enforcement agencies were placed on high alert, while checkpoints in and around Bannu were reinforced as part of precautionary measures.
Police officials said intelligence-based operations were being intensified across the district in view of recent security threats, reaffirming the resolve of law enforcement agencies to eliminate terrorism and maintain peace in the region. They added that coordination between police, security forces, and intelligence agencies remained strong to counter militant activity effectively.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb militancy in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces have stepped up actions against terrorist elements in recent months. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activity to help ensure lasting peace and stability.
