In a significant counter-terrorism success, Pakistani security forces eliminated three militants in North Waziristan, officially declared as part of the “Khawarij” group — a term used by the state for outlawed extremist factions.
According to security sources, the terrorists were travelling by vehicle from Kashmir Khel towards Zakir Khel when they were intercepted. An intense exchange of fire ensued between the militants and security personnel, resulting in the deaths of all three terrorists. The bodies have been taken into custody, and a sanitization operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
This successful operation comes amid heightened tensions on Pakistan’s eastern border, where relations with the traditional adversary India have grown increasingly strained. Despite these external pressures, Pakistan’s internal counter-terror operations have maintained steady momentum.
It is worth noting that over the past 18 months, Pakistani forces have intensified their crackdown on militant networks. During this period, 168 terrorist commanders have been neutralised, and many others captured alive — a testament to the sustained and targeted efforts against terrorism across the country.
