Security forces carried out a swift retaliatory operation in the Gambila area of Lakki Marwat following the deadly attack earlier in the day that left several police personnel martyred. Acting on intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area, security forces moved quickly to cordon off the suspected hideout.
According to security officials, the terrorists opened fire when they realized the security perimeter was tightening around them. Security forces responded immediately, resulting in an intense exchange of fire in which six terrorists were killed.
Officials said a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the slain militants. The bodies were taken into custody for identification and further investigation, while security forces sealed the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down any remaining militants who might have fled during the clash.
The operation comes just hours after a tragic IED explosion in Shahdi Khel Bettani area of Lakki Marwat, where six police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), along with an Anti-Terrorism Squad officer were martyred when their vehicle was targeted by terrorists.
Following the incident, Lakki Marwat police launched protests, blocking key entry and exit routes of the district. Police personnel have demanded the provision of modern counterterrorism equipment, including anti-drone systems, IED detectors, and other advanced resources to effectively combat militant threats in the region. Officers say the protest will continue until their security and operational demands are addressed.
Security officials emphasized that operations against terrorist networks will continue, adding that intelligence-based actions are being intensified across the district to ensure those responsible for the attack are brought to justice and to prevent further acts of violence.
