Security forces conducted a precision intelligence based raid in Bannu, eliminating one militant affiliated with a banned terrorist outfit and arresting four others. According to security officials, the operation was launched after credible information indicated the presence of the group at a specific hideout. Troops moved in swiftly, neutralising resistance and taking four suspects into custody.
Recovered items included more than one hundred thousand rupees in cash, a Honda City car, weapons, hand grenades and other militant equipment. The arrested individuals have been moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Bannu remains the most terrorism affected district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s southern belt, where militants frequently strike security forces, government functionaries and unarmed civilians. Just last night, terrorists attempted an attack on the Sheikh Landik checkpost. Police personnel, displaying notable resolve, repelled the assault, killing and injuring multiple attackers. Five police officials sustained minor injuries.
Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, public sentiment has shifted decisively against militant groups, and communities have increasingly aligned themselves with security forces. The southern districts, particularly Bannu and Lakki Marwat, stand out for their organised resistance. Local peace committees and community defence groups continue to confront militants shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement.
Among these, the Takhti Khel and Hatti Khel tribes are especially prominent. A few days ago, Takhti Khel tribesmen killed seven militants and expelled them from their area. In a reprisal attempt, militants used a quad-copter to target children from the tribe as they played cricket, injuring eight.
Similarly, on 28 November, Hatti Khel tribesmen encircled terrorists who arrived to retrieve bodies of their slain comrades after the attack on the Ahmadzai police station. They killed three, captured two and trapped ten others, tightening community pressure on militant networks in the region.
