Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Takwara area of Dera Ismail Khan district on the night of April 6/7, targeting the reported presence of terrorists.
During the operation, a fierce exchange of fire took place, resulting in the elimination of nine khwarij, including a high-value target, Shireen—ring leader of the militant group. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.
According to ISPR, Shireen was a most wanted terrorist involved in numerous attacks, including the target killings of civilians. He was also responsible for the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar on March 20, 2025.
The successful operation has avenged the fallen officer and brought the principal perpetrator to justice. A follow-up sanitization operation is underway to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining threats.
