Security Forces Convoy Comes Under Fire in Central Kurram

Security forces came under attack in the Dogar area of Central Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, late Thursday, official sources confirmed. According to initial reports, at least two vehicles of the forces were ambushed while moving through the mountainous terrain of Dogar. Officials stated that one of the vehicles sustained damage during the firing, while the situation remained under control.

Local sources claimed that two pick-up vehicles came under fire in the incident, with heavy gunfire reported in the area. Independent confirmation of casualties or the scale of damage was not immediately available due to limited access to the remote region.

Security forces promptly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers. The incident occurred amid heightened security measures across Kurram, which has witnessed repeated militant activity in recent months.

An official source said an inquiry had been initiated to determine the circumstances of the ambush. “A clearance operation is under way, and details will be shared once the area has been fully secured,” the source told.

Security experts note that while large-scale military operations have considerably reduced the militant presence in the tribal districts, sporadic attacks continue in certain pockets, particularly in areas bordering Afghanistan, such as Kurram.
