One person was killed and another injured in an exchange of fire between security forces and Khawarij in the Azam Warsak area of Birmal tehsil, South Waziristan Lower. The deceased was identified as Abdul Samad, son of Sarki Khel, while the injured, Raza Muhammad, son of Ada Khel, was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Wana.
Eyewitnesses said the firing erupted suddenly, spreading panic in the area. Residents confined themselves to their homes, and all commercial activities came to a halt. Police and security forces reached the spot soon after the incident, collected evidence, and launched a search operation to track down those involved.
In a separate incident, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired in the vicinity of Cadet College Wana. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Security forces later launched a search operation in the area, heightening public anxiety. Security officials said additional personnel have been deployed to restore order, and strict surveillance of suspected elements is underway.
