The second phase of the deportation of illegal immigrants from Pakistan has been launched, with a total of 876 Afghan refugees holding Afghan Citizen Cards being repatriated through the Torkham border on April 5, 2025. This follows the deportation of 1,495 illegal foreign nationals through the same route the previous day.
According to a report by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Interior Department, within the past five days, a total of 1,355 Afghan Citizen Card holders have been sent back to Afghanistan through Torkham. Since September 2023, a cumulative total of 481,285 illegal immigrants have been deported through the Torkham border alone.
On April 5, a further 842 Afghan Citizen Card holders and 318 illegal foreign residents were sent from the federal capital and Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for deportation. These included 121 Afghan Citizen Card holders and 12 illegal immigrants from Islamabad, and 721 Afghan Citizen Card holders and 306 illegal immigrants from Punjab. Additionally, a total of 6,108 illegal immigrants have been sent back from two transit points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one illegal immigrant from Kohat Jail has also been repatriated.
The operation continues as the government works to enforce stricter immigration regulations and ensure the return of illegal residents to their countries of origin.
