Salman Ahmad, Legal Action, Peca Act, Anti-State Propaganda

Renowned singer Salman Ahmad is facing legal action after a case was registered against him under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). According to police officials, the charges are related to Salman Ahmad’s alleged involvement in spreading anti-state and anti-institutional propaganda. The case has been filed at the Defence A police station, with the police serving as the complainants.

As per the details of the FIR, Salman Ahmad is accused of posting false and defamatory content against national institutions on social media. The posts allegedly went viral and were labeled as incitement to hate. The FIR further states that a police officer on duty personally witnessed the controversial posts.

This legal development comes after Salman Ahmad faced disciplinary action in December of last year, when his membership in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party was revoked. The singer was expelled from the party for making posts critical of the then PTI leadership, particularly against the party’s founder, Imran Khan.

The case has sparked considerable attention, raising questions about the intersection of social media freedom and national security.
