Salarzai Jirga Unites Against Terrorism in Bajaur

A grand jirga of the Salarzai tribe convened in Raggan, Tehsil Salarzai, on Saturday, where tribal elders and elected representatives unanimously declared that terrorism and its facilitators would no longer be tolerated in the region.

The jirga brought together Member Provincial Assembly Anwareeb Khan, Israruddin Khan, Malik Gul Kareem Khan, Malik Hazrat Noor, Malik Abdul Nasir, Malik Shah Yousaf, Malik Khanzada, along with other respected elders of the Salarzai tribe.

In a strongly worded declaration, participants resolved that militants attempting to enter Bajaur would be confronted with armed resistance. The jirga also vowed to take uncompromising action against facilitators of terrorism, sending a clear warning that individuals providing support or shelter to militants would face strict measures.

Elders emphasized that the preservation of peace was a shared responsibility, not limited to state institutions but resting equally on the shoulders of local communities. “Bajaur’s tribes stand united in their determination to keep the region free from militant influence,” the jirga communiqué stated, affirming the resolve of every clan to protect their areas and uphold law and order.

Speakers recalled Bajaur’s turbulent past as a frontline district in the war against terrorism and stressed that unity was the only shield against efforts to destabilize the area. They noted that militant outfits and their supporters had inflicted untold suffering on the local population, and reiterated that such forces would find no space within Salarzai lands.

The jirga’s decisions are being seen as a significant reaffirmation of tribal solidarity at a time when Bajaur’s strategic location on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border continues to make it vulnerable to cross-border militant activity. Local elders said their stance would strengthen ongoing efforts by the state and security institutions to consolidate peace and stability in the region.
