The militants of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), also known as Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH), launched a rocket attack on the Jaffar Express in the Naseerabad district on Wednesday, but swift response by police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel forced the attackers to flee.
According to official sources, the militants fired four rockets at the passenger train as it passed through the area. Security forces promptly returned fire, repelling the assailants before any damage was caused to the train or passengers. The Jaffar Express later reached Dera Murad Jamali Station safely.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation to track down the attackers.
Grenade Attack Injures 13, Including Women and Children
In a separate incident, the same group carried out a hand grenade attack on a police mobile van in the Altafabad area, injuring at least 13 people, including two policemen, two women, and four children.
According to SSP Ghulam Sarwar Bhayyo, all the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The attackers managed to escape after the assault, prompting another search operation by the police.
Authorities have noted a sharp increase in attacks by Fitna al-Hindustan militants across Balochistan, targeting both security personnel and civilians. Thousands have been killed or injured in similar acts of terror in recent years, as militants continue to strike at will in the restive province.
