In a startling revelation, retired Indian Army Colonel Rajesh Powar has acknowledged that Afghanistan is being used as a base for terrorist operations targeting Pakistan. Speaking in an interview, Powar stated that various extremist groups active in Afghanistan are carrying out attacks in Pakistan, with financial backing provided by India and weapons and intelligence support supplied by Israel.
According to Colonel (R) Powar, these external actors share a common strategic interest in weakening Pakistan. Israel, in particular, views Pakistan as a significant adversary due to its nuclear program and its positions opposing Israeli policies, he noted.
Analysts say Powar’s statements align with Pakistan’s longstanding assertion that it faces a sustained proxy war. They caution, however, that independent verification and concrete evidence are essential to fully assess the claims.
Experts further warn that if such allegations are substantiated, they could represent a serious challenge not only to Pakistan’s security but also to regional stability. The coordinated use of proxy groups, foreign funding, and cross-border operational support highlights the complex nature of modern security threats in South Asia.
Pakistan’s security apparatus, they argue, continues to navigate these multilayered challenges while working to safeguard civilians, critical infrastructure, and national interests.
