An anti-Taliban armed group announced Saturday that it had targeted a Taliban intelligence facility in the heart of Kabul, exposing once again the vulnerability of the Taliban-led government to internal resistance.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) said its fighters carried out an attack on the Taliban’s Intelligence Unit 40 in the heavily guarded Shash Darak area on Friday evening. According to the group, at least one Taliban operative was killed and four others were injured in the strike.
The AFF described the facility as one of the Taliban’s most notorious detention centers, where former Afghan security personnel and innocent civilians — including women — are routinely held and subjected to torture and inhumane treatment.
Residents in central Kabul reported hearing an explosion, contradicting the Taliban’s frequent denials of such incidents.
Analysts say the attack highlights growing resistance inside Afghanistan and underlines the Taliban regime’s inability to establish real security, despite its repeated claims of stability and control.
