PESHAWAR: The repatriation process for Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders and undocumented Afghan refugees has officially begun in Pakistan, with authorities facilitating their return via Torkham.

According to officials, Afghan nationals residing across the country will be transported to a holding camp in Landi Kotal before being sent back to Afghanistan through the border crossing.

During a briefing to Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abid Majid, on his visit to Khyber district, Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shahid stated that a dedicated holding camp had been established to ensure a dignified return, providing all essential facilities.

Officials informed the Additional Chief Secretary that a monitoring team comprising district administration, PDMA, NADRA, FIA, and law enforcement personnel will oversee the repatriation process. The voluntary return period, which lasted until March 31, 2025, has now ended. Moving forward, all undocumented Afghans and ACC holders will be registered at the holding camp before being sent back via Torkham.

Earlier, the Additional Chief Secretary inspected the arrangements at the camp, reviewed the repatriation process for returning families, and expressed satisfaction with the facilities.
