A remote-control bomb blast in Quetta’s Saryab area damaged a civilian vehicle but caused no casualties, despite reportedly targeting a police mobile on routine patrol. The explosive device had been planted on Saryab Link Badini Road with the intention of targeting police personnel from the Abdul Khaliq Shaheed Police Station during their regular patrol.
Police said the device detonated with a loud explosion as the police mobile passed along Link Badini Road. While the police vehicle remained unharmed, a civilian car in the blast radius sustained damage. No injuries were reported. Following the incident, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), along with heavy contingents of security forces and police, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Saryab Asif Ghafoor stated that approximately 1.5 kilograms of explosives and ball bearings were used in the attack, detonated via remote control. He added that the bomb had been concealed inside the road divider. The DSP further said that security across the city had been placed on heightened alert following the blast, with additional patrols deployed to deter further incidents.
