Quadcopter Strike Hits Bannu’s Miryan Police Station Again; Two Officers Injured

Miryan Police Station

In a fresh act of militancy, terrorists once again targeted the Miryan Police Station in Bannu district, using a quad-copter injuring two police constables, Adnan and Ehsan.

According to police sources, the attackers deployed a quad-copter, commonly used in recent cross-border-style attacks, to target a thermal surveillance camera installed at the station. Although the intended target sustained minimal damage, the explosive payload caused injuries to two personnel on duty.

Responding swiftly, police units opened fire on the flying device, but due to its high speed and altitude, it managed to evade the response and disappeared toward the Ghoreh Bakhakhel area.

Following the incident, security across the area was immediately placed on high alert. A search operation was launched to recover debris or forensic evidence linked to the quadcopter, which officials believe may help trace the origin of the attack.

Both injured officers were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials confirmed that their condition is stable.

In response to the evolving threat, authorities are reviewing additional security measures to protect surveillance infrastructure and enhance response capabilities against future aerial incursions.

This marks yet another instance of militants leveraging modern technology to target security installations in the region. Recent months have seen a rise in such attacks, raising concerns over the need for advanced anti-drone systems and stronger airspace monitoring in volatile zones like Bannu.
