In a high stakes intelligence-based operation near the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, Punjab Police eliminated four armed Khawarij in the Kot Mubarak area of Dera Ghazi Khan, recovering a substantial cache of weapons and explosives. Several of their accomplices managed to flee the scene, triggering a large-scale search and sweep operation in the surrounding region.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, law enforcement received credible intelligence regarding the movement of Khawarij elements operating in the volatile border region. Acting swiftly, police teams encircled the area and launched a coordinated strike to intercept the threat.
“The Khawarij, armed with heavy weaponry, launched an assault on the police teams,” the spokesperson stated. “Our officers responded with overwhelming force, killing four of the attackers and dismantling their nefarious plans.”
Automatic weapons, explosives, and other combat-grade materials were recovered from the slain Khawarij, indicating preparations for a major act of violence.
Security forces remain in the field, conducting an intensive search under the supervision of Regional Police Officer Dera Ghazi Khan, Captain (Retd.) Sajjad Hassan Khan, and District Police Officer Syed Ali. The operation aims to capture the fleeing Khawarij and ensure complete security of the region.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, commended the operation, praising the valor and professionalism of the police teams. “Punjab Police stands as an unbreakable wall against the Khawarij. Our mission is clear — to root out every last remnant of this extremist threat,” he affirmed in a statement.
The successful operation marks a significant blow to Khawarij networks seeking to destabilize peace in the region and underscores Punjab Police’s unwavering resolve in safeguarding the province against the forces of extremism.
