Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India, the Punjab government has issued directives to enhance security at sensitive installations across the province, following fears of potential attacks by Indian forces.
In response to confirmed attacks in two districts of Punjab allegedly carried out by Indian forces, the provincial Home Department has placed all key installations and high-risk areas on high alert. Authorities have been directed to ensure foolproof security measures to pre-empt any hostile activity.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department stated that future aggression from across the border cannot be ruled out, which necessitates stringent preventive measures. District Police Officers (DPOs), Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), and Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to reinforce security arrangements immediately.
The Home Department has ordered strict protection of sensitive sites and stressed the importance of proactive security to avert any untoward incidents. In this regard, a formal communication has been issued to police and district administrations by the Internal Security Wing of the Home Department.
According to the official letter, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, CCPO Lahore, all DPOs, Regional Police Officers (RPOs), and Deputy Commissioners have received directives to secure all critical infrastructure and sensitive areas across the province.
The letter emphasizes that all districts must implement comprehensive and foolproof security protocols at key installations to ensure public safety amid the escalating regional situation.
