President Asif Ali Zardari has stated that Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir is deserving of promotion to the rank of Field Marshal in recognition of his role in the successful defence of the country.
According to News, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on President Zardari and briefed him on the federal cabinet’s decision to promote General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal. The two leaders also praised the armed forces for their effective response to Indian aggression.
President Zardari, while lauding the military’s performance, remarked, “Under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, the armed forces have successfully defended the motherland. For this remarkable feat, General Syed Asim Munir deserves promotion.”
He added, “Field Marshal Asim Munir’s command broke the enemy’s pride. The nation values his services in the fight against terrorism and acknowledges his leadership.”
The President also congratulated Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar on the extension of his tenure and appreciated the Pakistan Air Force’s combat strategy, which dealt a decisive blow to the adversary. “Under his command, the Indian Air Force suffered a resounding defeat,” he said, extending best wishes to both Field Marshal Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir, stating, “During the Battle for Truth, General Asim Munir thwarted the enemy’s nefarious designs through his exceptional leadership and professionalism during Operation Baniyan Marsous.”
It is pertinent to mention that the federal cabinet, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, formally approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military) to the rank of Field Marshal.
