ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grave concern over India’s aggressive posturing and provocative rhetoric following the recent Pahalgam attack. The concern was raised during a high-level meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday, also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

According to the official communique, the leadership reviewed the escalating tensions with India and discussed possible responses to any misadventure. Both leaders emphasized that India’s hostility threatens regional peace and stability, reiterating that Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

“Pakistan is fully capable of responding to any form of aggression with full force,” the statement read, adding that the nation stands united behind its armed forces. The leadership also condemned India’s baseless accusations over the Pahalgam incident, which were made without investigation.

President Zardari lauded the government’s measured and responsible response, stating that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to defend its national interests. The meeting also called on the international community to take notice of India’s involvement in terrorism within Pakistan, including militant funding and cross-border infiltration.

In a show of solidarity with the Kashmiri people, the meeting reaffirmed the need for urgent implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the right to self-determination in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also inquired about President Zardari’s health following his recovery from COVID-19.
