Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude for the messages of sympathy and solidarity received from around the world following the suicide attack on Tarlai mosque.
In his statement, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to bring the perpetrators of the “heinous crime” to justice, vowing that the nefarious designs of terrorists would never be allowed to succeed.
The suicide blast occurred during Friday prayers, leaving 32 people martyred and 162 others injured.
According to preliminary investigations, the attacker had received training in Afghanistan. Officials said the explosive device used in the blast contained between four to six kilograms of explosives along with ball bearings.
The suicide bomber was identified as Yasir, son of Bahadur Khan, a resident of Peshawar. Authorities have also arrested four of his relatives in connection with the investigation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored that the support of global partners remains vital in Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate terrorism. He added that the brave Pakistani nation stands united and steadfast in its determination to defeat terrorist elements.
