PM Shahbaz Vows Security and Development in Balochistan Amid Rising Terror Threats

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the strategic importance of Balochistan and underscored the challenges and opportunities in ensuring its development and security. Addressing participants of a national workshop on Balochistan, the Prime Minister said that terrorism is resurging in Balochistan and other regions, and stressed that the province’s development is integral to Pakistan’s overall prosperity.

“Balochistan is the largest province in terms of area. Its leaders voluntarily chose to join Pakistan, and its unique culture, history, and traditions make it distinct,” Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated. He emphasized that while the province is rich in natural resources, much of its wealth remains untapped, and past neglect over decades reflects a critical moment of national self-accountability.

The Prime Minister highlighted the enduring hospitality and generosity of the Baloch people, noting that harmonious relations among different communities in the province have historically strengthened national unity. “The spirit of the federation lies in mutual sacrifice and brotherhood,” he remarked.

Addressing developmental challenges, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif acknowledged that Balochistan’s geography poses obstacles, and the provision of electricity and water to remote communities remains a major concern. He praised the historic sacrifices made by Punjab under the 2010 NFC Award and emphasized that inter-provincial consensus forms the foundation of a strong Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also recognized the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces, noting their critical role in maintaining peace. He recalled that terrorism was eradicated from the country in 2018 but warned that extremist elements are once again attempting to destabilize Balochistan and other regions.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring security, promoting development, and harnessing Balochistan’s vast potential for the collective progress of Pakistan.
