Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Federal Ministers and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), on Wednesday visited the flood-affected districts of Swat, Buner, Shangla, and Swabi to review ongoing relief operations and express solidarity with the people devastated by torrential rains and flash floods.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was received by the Field Marshal and senior civil and military officials. He was given a comprehensive briefing on the current situation, the scale of damages, and the coordinated measures being taken by the Pakistan Army, civil administration, and federal institutions to provide immediate rescue and relief.
During his interaction with the affected families, the Prime Minister conveyed his deep grief over the loss of lives and assured the people that the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army stood firmly with them in this critical hour. He affirmed that every possible national resource would be mobilized to speed up relief, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts until normalcy is fully restored.
The Prime Minister lauded the tireless commitment of the Armed Forces, police, rescue workers, and civil administration in extending timely assistance to citizens, terming their efforts a reflection of true national service.
He also drew attention to the destructive role of illegal encroachments, timber mafia, and unregulated mining and crushing activities in waterways, which he said had aggravated the scale of destruction. Stressing that Pakistan must act as a hard state where no one is above the law, the Prime Minister directed strict and indiscriminate action against violators responsible for endangering lives and property.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also interacted with Army, police, and civil administration personnel engaged in relief operations. He praised their selfless devotion and instructed formations on the ground to continue assisting flood victims with utmost dedication. He underscored that the safety and relief of citizens remained the foremost priority, assuring that no effort would be spared to ease the hardships of affected families.
Earlier, the Prime Minister and Field Marshal, along with accompanying ministers and officials, offered Fateha for those who lost their lives in the catastrophe, praying for the early recovery of the injured and strength for the bereaved families.
The visit underscored the joint resolve of the political and military leadership to stand united in confronting the natural disaster and ensuring comprehensive relief, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery for the flood-hit population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
