Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday visited Pasrur Cantonment in Sialkot to pay tribute to the exceptional bravery and professionalism of the Armed Forces during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a key battle of Marqa-e-Haq, stating that the nation stood proud of its valiant defenders who gave a befitting response to India’s unprovoked aggression. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, Minister for Planning and Development, and the Information Minister. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), were also present during the visit.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the operational conduct of the battle and the overall preparedness of the Corps. He interacted with officers and troops at the frontline, lauding their high morale, combat readiness, and unwavering professionalism.
“The valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan, fortified by the unwavering resolve of the nation, defended the motherland in a heroic manner and dealt a decisive blow to the adversary’s dastardly aggression,” the Prime Minister remarked. “History will eternally record how, within hours, Pakistan’s defenders extinguished India’s unprovoked aggression with unmatched precision and resolve.”
He praised the armed forces as the “crown jewels of the nation,” and strongly condemned the targeting of innocent civilians—especially children, women, and the elderly—calling such actions by India “utterly shameful” and a blatant violation of international laws and norms. He said India had evaded Pakistan’s call for neutral investigations because it had no justification for the offensive, which was launched out of “false pretext, bloated arrogance, and ego.”
“Our martyrs are our pride and the nation shall eternally remain indebted to them,” he added.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by the Chief of Army Staff and the Corps Commander Gujranwala.
