Peshawar FC HQ Assault: Terrorists Confirmed as Afghan Nationals in Initial Police Findings

Security officials have confirmed that the three terrorists involved in the attack on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar were Afghan nationals, according to the preliminary investigation report prepared by the police.

Security sources said all three attackers were identified through forensic and intelligence assessments. Weapons and explosive material recovered from their possession further support the findings.

According to the police report, the assault began when a suicide bomber approached the main gate of the FC Headquarters on foot from the Sunehri Masjid Road side. The attacker had draped himself in a shawl and detonated his explosive vest at the checkpoint, instantly martyring three FC personnel.

Despite the powerful blast, the main gate remained intact. Immediately after the explosion, two additional suicide attackers dressed in shalwar kameez and armed with rifles and hand grenades attempted to enter the premises through the side gate.

The report states that once inside, the attackers turned right and headed towards the motorcycle stand, opening fire. FC personnel responded swiftly, engaging the terrorists and neutralizing both within 30 to 40 meters of the main entrance. Both attackers were killed before they could trigger their explosive devices or penetrate deeper into the compound.

Investigators have determined that the terrorists’ objective was to take hostages inside the FC Headquarters, where senior officers are stationed and a large number of personnel were present at the time. A parade was also underway, increasing the potential scale of the intended attack.

Security forces have since cleared the entire facility and heightened the alert level across sensitive installations in Peshawar.

Authorities are expanding the investigation to trace the support network behind the Afghan-origin cell, with law enforcement agencies coordinating efforts to prevent similar infiltration attempts.
