In a bold stand against extremism, more than 250 residents of Kamma Chashmi in District Bannu convened a grand jirga to address the alarming presence of Khawarij elements, who had appeared during the Eid sermon earlier that day. The gathering marked a resolute shift in community response from silence to resistance as locals pledged to reclaim security and peace in their region.
Presided over by local elders and influential notables, the jirga reached a unanimous decision to form a 30 to 40-member armed committee for the protection of Kamma Chashmi’s territorial limits. The committee will be fully equipped, and the participants have resolved to seek formal assurances from the local administration to ensure its smooth and legitimate functioning.
In a significant move, the jirga also decided that community elders will personally visit the homes of individuals suspected of affiliation with Khawarij factions. They will be given firm warnings to end all such activities. If they continue to engage in or support extremist behavior, they will be handed over to law enforcement and security agencies (LES) for legal action.
The jirga established a unified action plan: if any Khawarij elements are seen within the village boundaries, a loudspeaker announcement will be made, and every resident will be duty-bound to come forward and assist in their immediate apprehension.
The jirga concluded peacefully but with powerful determination, as the people of Kamma Chashmi vowed to guard their land from the menace of Khawarij through unity, armed vigilance, and uncompromising resolve.
