Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Condemns Indian Aggression, Urges Global Action on Kashmir

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has strongly condemned India’s unprovoked and unlawful aggression following the Pahalgam incident, terming New Delhi’s actions as a reckless violation of international norms and a clear reflection of lawlessness.

In interviews with major U.S. television channels, Ambassador Sheikh emphasized that India launched attacks against Pakistan without a shred of evidence, following the April 22 incident in Pahalgam. “In the dead of night between May 6 and 7, Indian forces struck civilian areas inside Pakistan, signaling a dangerous escalation and irresponsible conduct,” he stated.

He affirmed that Pakistan, as a sovereign and peace-loving nation, exercised its legitimate right to self-defense and responded with a proportionate and resolute military operation. “Our armed forces responded with full capability in defense of national sovereignty. Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan retains the right to respond to aggression to protect its territorial integrity,” the envoy asserted.

Ambassador Sheikh underscored that the global community welcomed Pakistan’s call for an impartial and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam episode, highlighting Islamabad’s commitment to peace and justice. “We reserve the right to respond at a time and manner of our choosing. Our pursuit is peace with dignity, but we will not allow India’s aggression to go unanswered,” he added.

Calling upon the international community to shift focus toward the root cause of regional instability, the envoy urged world powers—especially the United States and President Trump—to play a decisive role in resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute. “More than 1.6 billion people across Pakistan and India remain hostage to the Kashmir conflict. It is imperative that the issue be resolved in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions,” he said.

In retaliation to India’s cowardly attack, the Pakistan Armed Forces reportedly shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, and destroyed multiple military installations, including a brigade headquarters. Notably, Indian forces were seen raising white flags at the LOC’s Chura complex, tacitly acknowledging defeat.

The National Security Committee of Pakistan has granted the armed forces full authority to respond decisively. Pakistan has made it unequivocally clear: any violation of its sovereignty will be met with unwavering strength and national resolve.
