Pakistan United Against Cross-Border Terrorism, Says Defence Minister

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly condemned the “misleading and malicious” statements issued by the Afghan Taliban’s spokesperson, asserting that the Pakistani nation — along with its political and military leadership — stands united on matters of national security.

In a statement t, Asif said there is complete national consensus on Pakistan’s security policies and a comprehensive strategy regarding Afghanistan. He added that the people of Pakistan, especially those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are well aware of the terrorism being carried out through Indian proxies operating under the Taliban’s patronage.

The minister noted that the Taliban’s unrecognized government in Kabul is facing deep internal divisions, where women, children, and minorities continue to face systemic oppression. He said freedom of expression, education, and representation remain denied under the current regime.

Asif further stated that despite four years in power, the Taliban have failed to fulfill promises made to the international community. “To hide their internal rifts, instability, and governance failures, they resort to fiery rhetoric, narrative building, and serving the agenda of external actors,” he said.

He accused the Taliban of acting as a proxy for foreign elements while reaffirming that Pakistan’s Afghan policy is guided by national interest and the pursuit of regional peace and stability.

The Defence Minister emphasized that Pakistan will continue decisive actions to protect its citizens and eliminate cross-border terrorism. “False statements cannot change facts; trust can only be built through concrete actions,” Asif concluded.
