Pakistan, Türkiye Reaffirm Strategic Defense Partnership During GHQ Talks

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, held a high-level meeting with the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, at General Headquarters on Friday.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the Turkish military chief was presented with a guard of honor by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional and global security environment, and ways to further strengthen bilateral defense and military cooperation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the current state of Pakistan–Türkiye relations and underscored the importance of sustained engagement, close coordination, and enhanced defense collaboration.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the deep-rooted and historic brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, founded on shared history, mutual trust, and strong people-to-people connections. He appreciated the consistent support extended by the Turkish Armed Forces and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral military relations.

General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu thanked the Pakistani leadership for the warm reception and praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army. He reiterated Türkiye’s resolve to deepen defense cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, joint exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.

The meeting reflects the continued convergence between Pakistan and Türkiye on defense, security, and strategic stability, at a time when both countries face complex regional and global challenges.
