a powerful reaffirmation of Pakistan’s pivotal role in regional security and global defence diplomacy, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, held a high-level meeting with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defence, Yaşar Güler, during his official visit to Ankara. The discussions centred on deepening defence cooperation and expanding military-to-military collaboration, underscoring Pakistan’s growing stature as a key strategic ally.
The meeting was also attended by Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, who earlier held a separate bilateral meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir. Both sides agreed on enhancing defence industry collaboration, joint training, and intelligence sharing, with a shared vision for peace and stability in the region.
In a strong gesture of solidarity, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence issued an official statement describing Pakistan as a “brotherly country” and hailed the bilateral relationship as historic, strategic, and founded on mutual trust and shared values.
The military engagements coincided with the official visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Türkiye, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul. The meeting, held in an exceptionally cordial environment, reaffirmed the enduring and brotherly ties between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sharif was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Dr. Yousaf Junaid.
President Erdoğan hosted a special banquet in honour of Prime Minister Sharif and his delegation, further cementing the unbreakable bond between Pakistan and Türkiye — a partnership anchored in shared history, mutual respect, and a joint vision for the future.
