Pakistan Strongly Condemns India’s Unprovoked Aggression at Emergency Meeting of National Security Committee

An emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemned India’s unprovoked and unlawful aggression, terming it a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law.

According to media reports, the NSC authorized the Pakistan Armed Forces to take all necessary countermeasures in response to India’s acts of aggression and called upon the international community to take serious notice of India’s illegal actions and hold it accountable.

The committee held a special prayer for the innocent civilians martyred in the attacks, expressed deep condolences to their families, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The NSC deliberated on the grave implications of India’s cowardly and unlawful military operations. During the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, Indian armed forces launched coordinated missile, air, and drone strikes inside Pakistan’s sovereign territory, targeting civilian areas in Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, and Bahawalpur in Punjab, as well as Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The forum noted that these unprovoked and unjustified attacks deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure, under the false pretext of so-called terrorist camps. Innocent men, women, and children were martyred, while critical civilian infrastructure, including mosques, sustained significant damage.

The attacks endangered commercial air traffic, placing the lives of thousands of passengers — including from brotherly Gulf nations — at serious risk. Additionally, the deliberate targeting of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project was described as a blatant violation of international agreements.

The NSC declared these illegal actions a direct assault on Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, strongly condemned them, and unequivocally categorized them as war crimes under international law. The targeting of innocent civilians — particularly women and children — by the Indian military was termed a disgraceful and heinous act, representing a clear breach of both human ethics and global norms.

The committee reaffirmed that Pakistan has categorically and repeatedly rejected India’s baseless allegations about the existence of terrorist camps within Pakistan. Following the April 22 incident, Pakistan had offered a transparent, impartial, and credible investigation — a proposal regrettably dismissed by India.

On May 6, international media representatives visited the alleged sites, with more visits scheduled for May 7. However, fearing the exposure of its false narrative and acting under an unethical leadership, India launched these attacks without evidence to achieve short-term political objectives and suppress the truth.

The forum made it clear that attacks on innocent Pakistani civilians are unacceptable and that India, by disregarding reason and diplomacy, has once again set the region on fire. The consequences of this reckless escalation will rest squarely with India.

In accordance with the NSC declaration of April 22, 2025, Pakistan’s armed forces exercised their inherent right of self-defence and safeguarded the country’s territorial integrity and the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In the process, five Indian fighter jets and drones were successfully downed.

The NSC affirmed that under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Pakistan retains the right to respond at a time, place, and manner of its choosing to this violation of its sovereignty and the killing of its innocent civilians. The Pakistan Armed Forces have been granted full authority to act accordingly.

Despite deep sorrow over India’s naked aggression, the Pakistani nation stands united in full solidarity with its armed forces, and proudly lauds their courage, valor, and timely defensive actions.

The NSC emphasized that the nation is firmly united in the face of any potential aggression. It appealed to the international community to recognize the gravity of India’s unlawful and unprovoked actions and to hold it accountable for gross violations of international law and norms.

Pakistan reiterated its desire for peace — but with dignity and honor. The country made it clear once again that it will neither tolerate violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, nor allow any harm to be inflicted upon its proud and resilient people.
