Pakistan Strikes Back: PM Calls Urgent National Security Committee Meeting After India’s Aggressive Moves

Pakistan, National Security Committee, Meeting

In response to India’s dramatic and hostile diplomatic measures, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) tomorrow, signalling a strong and calculated Pakistan’s response to New Delhi’s escalating provocations.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed the development, stating, “The Prime Minister has called the NSC meeting to chalk out a comprehensive response to India’s reckless decisions. Pakistan will not remain silent.”

This comes after India, exploiting the controversial Pahalgam incident, unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, drastically reduced diplomatic ties with Pakistan, and announced the closure of the Attari-Wagah border crossings. India also slashed the number of Pakistani diplomats in New Delhi from 55 to 35 and ordered the complete shutdown of the Pakistani High Commission in the Indian capital.

Further intensifying tensions, New Delhi has cancelled all Pakistani visas, ordered Pakistani nationals to leave the country within 48 hours, and blocked all visa applications under SAARC agreements. In a move seen as a direct provocation, India declared Pakistan’s naval and air force attachés persona non grata and ordered the withdrawal of all its defence attachés from Islamabad.

Pakistan views these steps as a deliberate attempt by India to derail regional peace and isolate Islamabad diplomatically. The NSC meeting is expected to discuss countermeasures, including diplomatic reciprocity, legal recourse over the treaty suspension, and the broader implications for regional stability.

Analysts warn that India’s aggressive posture may be part of a larger strategy to deflect attention from internal unrest and rising extremism. As tensions reach a boiling point, all eyes are now on Islamabad, where the leadership prepares to deliver a “measured but firm response” to what many are calling India’s most provocative move in years.
