Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has condemned the recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, declaring them a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The high-level meeting, attended by federal ministers and top military leadership, focused on the rapidly evolving security situation following U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iranian sites. Sources confirm that the committee thoroughly assessed the implications of the Iran-Israel conflict for regional stability.

In its official statement, the NSC strongly denounced Israel’s military aggression, holding it responsible for inflaming tensions and reducing the space for diplomatic resolution. “Israeli actions have escalated the conflict and dangerously undermined opportunities for negotiations,” the committee observed.

While reiterating support for constructive dialogue between Iran and the United States, the committee expressed deep concern over the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, calling them a direct breach of IAEA resolutions and global legal norms.

The committee emphasized that Iran has the right to self-defence under the UN Charter, and any violation of its sovereignty jeopardises regional peace.

The NSC also extended condolences to the government and people of Iran for the loss of life resulting from the attacks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining close diplomatic contact with all relevant stakeholders.

Reasserting its stance, the committee underlined the need to resolve the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, urging all parties to avoid further escalation.
It also called on the international community to uphold international humanitarian law and human rights standards in responding to the crisis.

The NSC concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote regional peace and stability, while warning that unchecked aggression could trigger a wider conflict with dire consequences.
