Pakistan Signals No End to Operation Ghazab lil Haq Until Kabul Makes a Defining Choice

A senior Pakistani security official has stated that Operation Ghazab lil Haq will not be concluded until the Afghan Taliban government provides verifiable assurances that Afghan territory will no longer be used to facilitate militant activity against Pakistan.

Speaking to media representatives, the official underscored that Islamabad would not act hastily in winding down the operation. “There will be no artificial timelines,” the official said. “The duration and scope of the operation will depend entirely on ground realities and demonstrable action.”

The remarks come amid heightened cross-border tensions and continued security operations targeting what Pakistani authorities describe as terrorist safe havens and their facilitators. The official framed the ongoing actions as measures taken in self-defence, citing attacks against Pakistani civilians, mosques, and children as justification under international principles of state security.

According to security sources, more than 180 militant outposts have been destroyed to date, and control has been established over more than 30 strategically significant locations that were allegedly being used as launch pads for cross-border attacks. These operations, officials say, are aimed at dismantling operational infrastructure rather than targeting civilian populations.

The senior official emphasized that the Afghan Taliban must make a clear strategic choice. “They must decide whether they stand with Pakistan in ensuring regional stability, or whether they will allow their soil to be used by elements hostile to Pakistan,” he said.

The official further alleged that the Taliban administration is providing patronage to groups accused of destabilizing the region, adding that such actors are operating under what he described as a distorted religious narrative while sustaining what he termed a “war economy.”

In response to allegations and counterclaims circulating in the public domain, the official warned of coordinated misinformation efforts. He stated that certain narratives being disseminated through social media platforms and official accounts are fabricated, urging media organizations and observers to independently verify all claims.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been releasing regular updates regarding the progress of the operation, the official noted, asserting that the government is committed to maintaining transparency throughout the process.

The statements signal Islamabad’s intention to link the cessation of military activity directly to measurable security guarantees, rather than diplomatic assurances alone. Analysts suggest that the coming days may prove critical in determining whether verifiable mechanisms can be established to address Pakistan’s security concerns while preventing further escalation in the region.
