Pakistan Repels Cross-Border Assault by Afghan Taliban and Indian-Backed Terrorists, Inflicts Heavy Losses in Decisive Response: ISPR

On the night of 11–12 October 2025, Afghan Taliban fighters together with Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij launched an unprovoked assault along the Pak-Afghan border. Exercising the right of self-defence, the alert Armed Forces of Pakistan decisively repelled the attack across the frontier, neutralised multiple terrorist positions and training facilities operating from Afghan soil, and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers while taking all possible measures to avoid civilian harm.

Precision fires, strikes and targeted raids were directed at Taliban camps, posts, terrorist training facilities and support networks, including elements linked to Fitna al Khwarij (FAK), Fitna al Hindustan (FAH) and ISKP/Daesh. Multiple Taliban locations were destroyed and twenty-one hostile positions on the Afghan side of the border were briefly physically captured. Credible damage assessments indicate that more than two hundred militants and affiliated terrorists have been neutralized and many more wounded; infrastructural damage to terrorist posts, camps and headquarters across tactical and operational depth was extensive.

In the course of fierce overnight skirmishes, 23 soldiers of Pakistan embraced shahadat defending the country’s territorial integrity and 29 soldiers sustained injuries. The nation mourns their sacrifice; the Armed Forces remain determined and prepared to protect the life and property of the people of Pakistan.

A spokesperson for the Armed Forces said: “Pakistan will not tolerate the treacherous use of Afghan soil for terrorism. While we prefer constructive diplomacy and dialogue, we will continue to exercise our right to defend our people and neutralize terror threats emanating from across the border.” The statement noted with concern that this serious provocation coincided with the Taliban Foreign Minister’s visit to India and called on the Taliban Government to take immediate, verifiable steps to neutralize terrorist groups operating from their territory, including FAK, FAH and ISKP/Daesh.

Last night’s episode vindicates Pakistan’s long-standing position that elements operating from Afghanistan are facilitating terrorism. If the Taliban Government fails to act, Pakistan will persist with measures necessary to eliminate the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan and to safeguard regional peace and security.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan reiterate their unwavering resolve to defend the country’s territorial integrity and to defeat those who threaten our security.
